December 22, 2011 PICS

So, keeping an eye on two kids near a pool means few pictures (sorry!) but I did attempt to snap a couple in the locker room. That was hard enough, so I never got a very good one, but there are a few posted below. The first picture is of Samuel and Flora playing a game at breakfast. Flora is so cute. She will hide behind Samuel and say "Mimiiiiiii," and then she'll peek out the side behind Sammy and say "Hi!". :)

December 22, 2011

Name: Flora

Date: 12-22-11

Arrived: 7:15am

Breakfast: 7:20am, almost all of PB and bread

Snack 1: 8:55am, cereal

Nap 1: ----

Lunch: 12:15, a little cheese, all veggies, about half of granola/yogurt/banana mix, about half of grapes

Nap 2: 1:15ish-2:25

Snack 2: 2:45, 2 banana cookies

BM: 8am, 12:45pm

Special notes: Flora did not seem all that hungry at lunch. I think she swallowed too much pool water! Ha :) She was such a fish in the pool!

Name: Samuel

Date: 12-22-11

Arrived: 7:30am

Breakfast: finished beforehand

Snack 1: 8:55, grapes and cheese, 1 cookie

Nap 1: ----

Lunch: 12:15, a couple bites of peas, no sweet potato, all of sandwich, about 1/2 banana, about 1/2 yogurt

Nap 2: 1:15ish-2:30

Snack 2: 2:45, 2 apple cookies and a few pretzels

BM: 12:45

Special notes: Sam had trouble in the pool figuring out how to fill a cup with water so he could dump it out, but by the end, he had it figured out, and that’s all he did for quite a while! Fill, pour, fill, pour, as he just sat there in the water. So cute!

A few things we did today: Rec Center!!!

General notes: Well, folks, we made it. :) We had an adventure to the Rec Center today where we played in the pool and had a little time in the gym. The kids were wonderful, and they loved the water (of course)! Flora was persistent on laying on her stomach and crawling around on her hands, which was great, but it often meant swallowing a lot of water (sorry! I tried to explain that the water was yucky, but I don’t think it helped much). We even had a couple older girls come play with us (Rachel and Jesse), which was great! They were wonderful with the kids (though they made me a tiny bit nervous at times), so that was a good experience for the kids as well. We did not escape without accidents, though, one which included Flora slipping and conking her head before I had gotten her pool shoes back on her on the way out from the pool (she didn’t cry too long, so I think she’s fine), and the other included a bit of wiz on the floor of the dressing room (haha, I’ll just keep you guessing which kid it was). All was well, though, in the end, and it was worth the trip. The most difficult part was getting dressed afterward, as it was chilly in the dressing room and the kids were wanting to wander around and explore (floors were still wet, too). So, that was challenging. But once we were all dressed, we headed to the gym to kick a ball around, and Flora kept wandering over to a basketball player (who was nice enough to share his big basketball with her). Wonderful experience overall. I’d definitely do it again sometime. With all the stairs and carrying kids around, I got a workout, too. Added bonus! :)

Special notes: Flora just LOVES Milo! It was so funny watching her today at the Tri with him. When she couldn’t find him, she would look around and lightly call out “Mimo! Mimo!” and then when she either found him or I pointed him out, she would scream his name several times as she ran toward him!

No Pics Today. Sorry so late!!!

Name: Flora
Date: 12-19-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15am, almost all egg and bread and cheese, a little cereal
Snack 1: 10:15, cereal
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12, most cheese, all veggies, some potatoes, all grapes, all yogurt and granola
Nap 2: 1:05-3:25!
Snack 2: went with Dad
BM: not yet…
Special notes: It was the cutest thing this morning: Samuel woke up late today, and so Flora and I went in to get him. As I opened the door, Flora pushed it wide open, ran to Samuel’s crib, and leaned between the bars to give Samuel a kiss! It doesn’t get much more precious than that. They are really starting to like each other’s company a lot, which is great.

Name: Samuel
Date: 12-19-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: 8am, all pineapple, a few bites of cottage cheese, all egg casserole
Snack 1: 10:15, pretzels
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12, most cantaloupe, a few bites of cauliflower, most lasagna, the rest of the guacamole with most of the chips
Nap 2: 1pm-2:30
Snack 2: 2:45, grapes and cheese
BM: when he woke up at 8am
Special notes: Sammy’s bottom is still a little red, so I used disposable diapers all day long. Andrea, there is some cream in the crayon basket…is that the one you were looking for? I think there is also one in the bathroom upstairs.

A few things we did today: The kids hung with me as a ran a couple errands (bank and Hobby Lobby) and actually enjoyed Hobby Lobby quite a bit. There is a lot to look at there and could actually be turned into quite an educational trip! :) We didn’t do that much there, though; just practiced colors a couple times and checked out some of the decorations. On our way back, we stopped at Millet and played for a while. The rest of the day was pretty normal!

December 16, 2011 PICS

The kids really liked my bandana today, and when they saw bandanas in the laundry, they wanted to put them on. It started with Flora, but then Sammy wanted to join in the fun, too. :)

December 16, 2011

Name: Flora
Date: 12-16-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15, a couple bites of egg with broccoli, 2 sticks of cheese, a few grapes
Snack 1: 10:10, a little bit of everything…cereal, crackers, and cookies with raisins
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12, the rest of the cheese, the rest of the grapes, some quinoa with peas, a little yogurt with granola
Nap 2: 1:00-2:20
Snack 2: 2:45, crackers
BM: 10am, 12:30pm (just a tiny bit)
Special notes: Flora is really starting to repeat things a lot. It’s fun!

Name: Samuel
Date: 12-16-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: already ate
Snack 1: 10:10, I can’t remember…pretzels?
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12, some rice and beans, all applesauce, most of cut up fruit, a few chips with avocado, almost all cheese (He definitely ate better today. Still a little picky, but much better)
Nap 2: 1:00-3:10
Snack 2: 3:15, Lara Bar (loved it!)
BM: not yet
Special notes:

A few things we did today: We went to the Tri just to run around and play for a little bit before the aerobics ladies come in at 9, then we went to Wal-Mart. Other than that, pretty much same old. The kids pick up more every day with the alphabet.

General notes: The kids were cracking me up today with my bandana. Flora liked mine and obviously wanted one on her head (I was folding laundry and talking to them about the different articles of clothing, and Flora saw another bandana and wanted it on her head like me.) So, I put it on her head. She loved it (for about 30 seconds anyway). Then she wanted Sammy to put it on, and Sammy wanted to put it on, so we did. The kids get cuter every day. Without prompting today, they were both staring out a window at the Tri and turned and kissed each other. They romp around and play more and more WITH each other rather than BESIDE each other, so that’s nice to see.

December 15, 2011 PICS

I thought this was the greatest since Sam hasn't really shared a lot yet. He seemed happy to let Flora eat some of his pretzels. I love seeing them care for each other, even at a young age. On a side note, little did I know that as I was taking this picture, Flora was biting Sammy's finger! Oops. It was a total accident, but as soon as I was done clicking the camera button, Sammy started crying and I had no idea why...then I figured it out when I saw the bite marks on his finger. Awwww... Either way, it was cute they were sharing. I think he'll still share with her. :)

Now that Flora has a name for Sammy (Mimi), she often asks for him to do things with her. It's really cute. Today she wanted to go through the tunnel, but she started saying "Mimi" because she wanted Sam to join her. In this picture, she asked to get up on the couch, but as soon as she was up..."Mimi!" because she wanted Sam to sit beside her. So, here they are, enjoying a book together on the couch. :)

Breakfast: 7:15, most eggs and broccoli, a few grapes
Snack 1: 9:30, cereal
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12:30, most cheese, rest of grapes, all veggies, all hummus, all yogurt and granola
Nap 2: 1:20-3:20
Snack 2:
BM:
Special notes: Not sure if you give Flora pretzels, but Sammy was sharing them with her and she wanted those instead of her cereal. Just a note in case you need a snack idea. :)

Name: Samuel
Date: 12-15-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: ate before
Snack 1: 9:30, pretzels
Nap 1: ----

Nap 2: 1:40-3:10
Snack 2:
BM: 1:00
Special notes: Sammy was actually sharing his pretzels with Flora today!! He doesn’t usually share well, especially food, so I think maybe he is starting to grow out of that. It was sweet! I felt so bad for him, though, because one time when he was sharing his pretzel with Flora, she accidentally bi his finger instead of the pretzel! Poor little Sammy had teeth marks on his little finger. He was ok, though.

A few things we did today: We played in the middle room (the tunnel, exercises, etc.), then we made play-doh (thought they didn’t play with it very long). We also drove to Hamilton today to visit JB and go to the library.

General notes: Just as a note, I think I like the kids’ section in Oxford Lane Library better than the Hamilton branch. I wanted to check it out and see what it was like. Sammy was happy to see Daddy at work. :)

Nap 2: 1:15ish-2:35ish
Snack 2: 3:10, 2 cookies
BM: 12:45
Special notes: I think Sammy feels pretty bad today. He just wasn’t himself. He was very clingy and cried a lot. Poor guy. And then he hardly ate any snack and wouldn’t eat much of anything for lunch. I hope he feels better!!!

A few things we did today: We had planned to do “Millet Monday,” but circumstances changed and so I did not have a car. All was fine, though. We played on the drum, practiced the alphabet, did some kid exercises, played with the bean trough, played with the tunnel, etc. The kids love it when I chew gum and blow bubbles! So if you ever need some quick entertainment, grab a stick of gum and go at it! :)

Nap 2: 1:20-2:50

Breakfast: already ate
Snack 1: 10:10, 2 crackers and some cranberries

Snack 2: 2:55, O’s and Craisins
BM: not yet
Special notes: There was a bird book on the table at Kofenya, and Sammy showed off by doing his bird sign. :)

A few things we did today: We had a busy morning! I was planning to make cornbread today, but our cornmeal had webs in it, so I decided to pack the kids and go to the store…AGAIN. However, this time we ventured out to Wal-Mart, which seemed to be rather fascinating for them, especially Sammy. We made it back in time to have a few minutes to play, then Brad and Milo came over. Today we tried dried beans in the standing trough thing, and the kids LOVED it! They must have played with the beans for a good 30 minutes, maybe even 45. As soon as Milo left, we headed uptown to visit my friend Liz who was working at Kofenya. The kids also loved hanging out there. We sat on the couches for a bit and happened to run into my friend Kara as well. The kids just loved climbing around and exploring. That brought us to lunch time, so our morning was packed! This afternoon was just playing around the house.

Snack 2:
BM: 8:30am, 12:45pm
Special notes: When we got to the Tri today, Flora got a ball and stood off to the side a bit. This lasted several minutes! It was so cute. It was like she was just standing there taking everything in. She hardly moved for the first several minutes! Then she was energetic like usual. She seems to be at the kind of in between stage of being clingy and playing with other kids. She isn’t clingy like Samuel, but she doesn’t play with the other kids much yet. I think she’s getting close, though. She did play with other some today.

A few things we did today: Went to the Tri, grocery store (might as well make this a daily field trip! Ha), and just played around the house.

General notes: Mom, I will hopefully have pictures to post tomorrow! :) I took a couple today, but they weren’t really worth posting. Tomorrow, Milo is coming and I have something new to try with the kids. :)

December 1, 2011 PICS

I am sad I didn't get a better picture, but Sammy was moving fast! He was so cute dragging around a bag of potatoes today. He looked a lot like Linus dragging his blanket. :)

The kids loved the tent today!

Flora moving in for the kiss!! I am sad that it turned out fuzzy and my timing was a little off, but you can still feel the moment. Flora is so generous with her kisses! :)

December 1, 2011

Name: Flora
Date: 12-1-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15am, about half of oatmeal
Snack 1: 9:15, bunnies and raisins
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12:00, some quinoa, all edamame, some carrots, a couple bites of yogurt and granola, most applesauce, a bite of cheese, most hummus (see notes about lunch)
Nap 2: 1:05-2:50
Snack 2: 3:05, dried fruit and cereal
BM: 8am, 12:45pm
Special notes: So, lunch was interesting today. Flora just seemed to want a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I made the mistake of putting Flora’s main container on her tray when I probably should have spooned out a little bit at a time. She dumped everything out onto her tray, so it got all mixed together, and then she mostly just kind of picked at it instead of eating it. So, some of that was wasted. Then I gave her the cheese stick, which she took a couple bites of and spit most of it out (the bite-marked cheese stick is in her lunch bag! :). So then she had a pile of quinoa, carrots, and a bitten cheese stick with a few already-chewed bites all sitting in a pile on her tray, and she wanted more. Haha She seemed to want apple sauce, so I gave her about half in her orange bowl, and she ate about all she could get with her spoon. She then wanted more, so I poured the rest in, but she didn’t eat all of it and wanted more of something else. So I thought, “Well, apples are fruit. It wouldn’t be too bad mixed with yogurt.” She wanted yogurt, so I poured the yogurt in with the apple sauce and added granola. She took about a bite or two and decided she was done. So, that explains the container of weird-looking yogurt in her lunch box. :) The last thing: I had already taken everything away and started cleaning, and she decided she wanted milk, which was fine. So I gave her some milk and turned around to clean a couple dishes. Well, when I turned back around, there was milk everywhere! Down her shirt, on her pants, on the chair, on the floor. Haha I have no idea how that happened, but now you have an explanation for her change of clothes. And there you have it! Lunch with Flora. :)

Name: Samuel
Date: 12-1-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: 7:30am, about half of eggs and all of toast with PB
Snack 1: 9:15, O’s
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12, most blueberries, most peas with PB, most rice and beans
Nap 2: 1:05-2:45
Snack 2: 3:05, grapes
BM: 12:45
Special notes: Samuel was loving eating with a spoon today! I have been using the black plastic spoon since, Andrea, you told me he wouldn’t use a baby spoon but also so he doesn’t hurt himself with a big metal one. He’s doing great with it! Using a spoon, though, usually means a full bib at the end of lunch, and today before I thought to grab his bib, he took it off to show me he was finished and dumped everything on the floor. Haha

A few things we did today: We stayed in the house today. We went through the alphabet and watched Kermit’s alphabet, read books, etc. Today (inspired by Brad and Milo!) I got out one of my tents and set it up in the middle room. The kids loved it! What was funny, though, is that I don’t think either one of them, even with as many times as they came in and out of it, ever made it in or out without tripping over the lip. I guess they’re not quite old enough to learn from their mistakes. :) We had some pillows and a blanket inside, so the kids loved it. The lip-tripping was funny, though, because sometimes I was lying down inside, and so when the kids tripped, they came crashing down—on me! :) Needless to say, we had fun.

Special notes:

A few things we did today: played with Milo! Went to the grocery store

General notes: The kids did so well at Milo’s today. I’m glad they have a chance to hang out with Milo. I think it is the first time we’ve made it to 11am! Flora didn’t want to leave, so it was a struggle to put her coat on, but once we got it on, she was fine. She must just be nuts about Milo! I think I must have pushed their patience with the grocery store, though. My list was a little longer than usual, and I think they used up all their focus at Milo’s or something. Needless to say, I had to separate them and was glad to get home. :) They were both a little picky with their lunches today. I’m not really sure why…we did eat a little bit later than normal, so maybe they were too hungry?? However, when I said it was time to eat, neither of them was extremely interested. Snacks were the normal size today, too, so I can’t really explain it.

November 29, 2011

Name: Flora
Date: 11-29-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15am, about half of the toast
Snack 1: 9:30, cereal and dried fruit
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:55am, all grapes, most of the leftover toast, all veggies, all cheese, about half of yogurt and granola
Nap 2: 12:50-1:50
Snack 2: 2:30, 1/2 banana
BM: 2:00
Special notes: Everyone loves watching Flora at the Tri because she runs everywhere! All the parents are always commenting on it. It’s great! We also saw Jenaveve (sp??) with Lilly show said they knew you guys from church. She seemed really nice. Flora did great interacting with the other kids.

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-29-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: 7:30, yes, Andrea, he finished all that oatmeal AND had a banana. The kid’s stomach is bottomless! :)
Snack 1: 9:30, O’s
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:55, a few pieces of cauliflower, all cheese sandwich, all pineapple and melon
Nap 2: 1:15-3:15, sort of. Samuel was awake on and off throughout that time, so it is hard to say how long he actually slept. He slept the first hour, but then he just kind of moaned like he does on and off for the next while.
Snack 2: 3:20, banana
BM: 10:30
Special notes: Sammy was falling asleep when he was eating today! Poor guy. You were right, Andrea. He was tired. They did go down a little bit earlier than normal, but he still didn’t fall asleep until well past 1.

A few things we did today: Our big adventure for the day was the Tri. We were there for almost an hour and a half, and both kids seemed to have a blast! They are beginning to interact with some of the other kids, and some of the other moms jumped in to involve Sam and Flora. It’s really great to have such a resource! We did our exercises today, too, and the kids are slowly starting to chime in! Samuel was trying to make his arm go like a windshield wiper today, and Flora was saying “beep” for the car noises during one song. Flora also participated in the motor sounds of the car. Pretty soon they’ll be touching their heads and toes during “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”! :)

General notes: Just a note: a man at the Tri reminded me that this Friday, there are some holiday festivities uptown from 6-8:30. Sounds like fun for kids! I think this might be the event where some of Mr. Pearson’s group sings in the parks, too. Pretty cool. I might see if I can squeeze it in, but I bet it would be even more exciting for the little guys!

November 28, 2011 PICS

Pics from yesterday at Millet. The best entertainment was the full-length mirror!

Sammy was a champ with the ball yesterday!

I hope no one reading this is a germa-phobe. Yes, I let the kids lick the mirror...It was worth it! :)

November 28, 2011

Name: Flora
Date: 11-28-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15am, some granola and yogurt
Snack 1: 9:30, cookies and raisins
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:55, ate some more of the oats and yogurt, all cheese, all carrots, all hummus, most of apple
Nap 2: 1:15-2:25
Snack 2: 2:30, cookies and raisins
BM: 3pm
Special notes: Flora is such a joy! :) She definitely has down “elbow” and is no longer pointing at her arm or wrist. She can say it very well now, too.

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-28-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: already ate
Snack 1: 9:30, crackers
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:55, some pasta (didn’t eat a whole lot of it), all melon, all pineapple, most of apple from breakfast, didn’t want green beans or peas
Nap 2: 1:00-2:30
Snack 2: 2:30, crackers and some of Andrea’s granola bar things
BM: 10:45
Special notes: Sammy borrowed Flora’s fork today. He did very well! He used it to stab green beans, which he would then put in his mouth, slightly chew or suck on it, and then spit them out. So, he was able to do it pretty well, but for whatever reason, he didn’t want to eat the beans, then. I even tried PB! He also didn’t want peas, and so his meal today was a fruit overload.

A few things we did today: played with pots and dried beans, played in Millet Hall, and otherwise mostly played around the house.

General notes: The kids really enjoyed the pots with beans this morning. I put a few beans in each pot and let them use spoons to move beans from one pot to the other and so on. It’s funny how such simple things can be entertaining. They played in middle room for a while, then we headed out to Millet to run around, kick a ball, and explore. They loved it! Samuel especially was really into the ball today. Flora enjoyed a game we played tapping the pillars. After naps, we didn’t have a lot of time this afternoon, but they mostly just played in the middle room with the toys.

Monday, November 21, 2011

This was from the other day when Sammy and Flora opened the "shaker" and Sammy was eating raw rice. :)

They were so cute this morning holding hands at breakfast! :)

November 21, 2011

Name: Flora
Date: 11-21-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15am, a little over half of oatmeal
Snack 1: 10am, cereal and dried fruit
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12pm, half of grapes, most of yogurt and granola, most cheese, about half carrots, about half pasta
Nap 2: 1:05-2:25
Snack 2: 2:55pm, crackers, cookies, and raisins
BM: 2:30pm
Special notes: Just making note on the fact that Flora is really good about sharing and is often very thoughtful. Such a sweet spirit! One example from today: Sammy spilled some of his raisins from this snack trap, and instead of eating them, Flora picked them up and tried to put them back into Sammy’s snack trap!

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-21-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: already ate
Snack 1: 10am, raisins
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12pm, didn’t want sweet potato or mashed potatoes, he went nuts about Flora’s yogurt so I gave him one and he ate all of it, most green beans (with PB), all pineapple, a little turkey, and he really wanted bread but I decided not to give him any since he had enough at breakfast
Nap 2: 1pm-2:40
Snack 2: 2:55pm, cracker and raisins
BM: 12:30pm
Special notes: Sammy is really into somersaults right now! It’s really funny. He also looked at my pen today and said “peeh”. It was the light up pen, so I retracted the ink and gave it to him. Well, later he figured out how to get the ink out and was drawing on the couch! Luckily I caught him pretty early, but there is still a little ink on the couch. I wanted to wait and ask you guys what to use on the leather couches to clean it before I used something that hurt the couch even more. So, let me know what to use and I will clean it. Thanks! :)

Also, I’m sure you will notice the large bruise on his face. Poor guy hit his face on the heater in the middle room. I tried to put ice on it, but he didn’t seem to want it. He didn’t cry too long, but I could tell it was painful…I felt bad about it.

A few things we did today: It was a pretty dreary day. We spent all day in the house, which actually wasn’t too bad. We did some of the usual stuff; got out the big tunnel, listened to music, read a lot of books, played just a little on piano, etc. We tried finger paints one more time: that was a no-go again. I’ll put them away and try again in a couple months maybe. After Flora left, Sammy was ready to go out, so we took a brief trip to Wal-Mart, where we ran into my friend Sue and also said hi to Em in the electronics department. I am realizing with the weather turning bad, I need to start finding more places like the Tri and Millet so we can get out of the house and be active during the day sometimes. Otherwise, it’s going to be a looooong winter. :)

Name: Flora
Date: 11-18-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15am, a few eggs
Snack 1: 9:45, dried fruit and cereal
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:45am, all grapes, all cheese, most veggies, all pasta, a few bites of tapioca
Nap 2: 12:45-2:10
Snack 2: 2:45, cereal and dried fruit
BM: 12:30ish
Special notes: Flora seemed fine without medicine today. She was drooling and her nose was running a lot, but otherwise she seemed fine.

Did we lose Flora’s hat? I have not seen it the past few days…

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-18-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: already ate
Snack 1: 9:45am, raisins
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:45am, most chicken, all cauliflower with PB, all pineapple, all melon, all yogurt, the rest of granola from breakfast
Nap 2: 12:45-1:45, woke up a couple minutes, then went back to sleep 1:45-
Snack 2: 2:45, cracker
BM: 12:15ish
Special notes: Andrea, in case I forget to tell you, that little diaper rash-looking spot on Sammy looks like it might be getting a little worse. It was actually bleeding a tiny bit today when I changed him into a regular diaper to go out. I wanted to put something on it, but since I’m not sure if it is diaper rash or not, I was a little hesitant to put anything on it. When I changed him before nap, I did decide to put some cream on him.

Uncle Spencer is working on a “high five” with Sammy. hehe

A few things we did today: went to the store again, went to the library. Other than that, the usual. We did not get outside as it was a bit chilly.

General notes: Sorry, Drew. Sammy didn’t like the tapioca. Nice of you to share, though! :) The kids enjoyed the library. I am glad we have that as a resource for the wintertime. We may end up spending quite a bit of time there.

No Pics Today.

Name: Flora
Date: 11-17-11
Arrived: 7:10am
Breakfast: 7:15, some oatmeal
Snack 1: 9:30, cereal and dried fruit
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:40pm, all cheese, all broccoli, no sweet potato, all grapes
Nap 2: 12:40-1:45
Snack 2:
BM: 9am, 12:15pm
Special notes: OK, so Flora says “Milo” sometimes, but when we were in the car today and were driving close to his house, she started chanting his name! Then, after we got past his house, she started crying and saying “Milo” as if she knew we were driving farther away from his house and not going over there today. Maybe coincidence?? Or maybe she’s a baby genius. :)

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-17-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: ate beforehand
Snack 1: 9:30, raisins, 11am raw brown rice (see notes! Ha)
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:40, didn’t want carrots, ate about half of meatballs, almost all chicken noodles, all fruit
Nap 2: 12:50-2:50
Snack 2: 3pm, raisins and cracker
BM: not yet
Special notes: I suppose it was only a matter of time. Either he or Flora figured out how to open up the homemade shaker full of brown rice. I looked over, and there is Samuel with brown rice stuck all over his face as he continues to shovel raw rice into his mouth. It was quite comical.

A few things we did today: Stopped by the store (again! At least it is a free double cozy coup ride), did a couple drive thru (had to get gas and went through the drive thru at the bank), and then we headed out to Millet to play. Other than that, mostly the norm today.

General notes: We were going to go to the library after Millet, but I smelled a stinky diaper, so I decided to go home and change a baby and save the library for hopefully tomorrow. The kids loved Millet! I only took a ball, but that was enough. They kicked the ball around and explored the big building. We even popped our heads in to see the basketball players.

A few things we did today: played with Milo this morning! We got a short walk in this afternoon, but it was pretty chilly.

Lunch: 11:30am, some pasta, all cheese, banana, I can’t remember what else…?
Nap 2: 12:35-1:50
Snack 2: 3:15, cracker

Special notes: Sammy was SO good and patient today while I was cooking this afternoon!

A few things we did today: stopped by the store (again!) briefly, went to the Tri for open gym, hung out around the house

General notes: The open gym was wonderful!!! They set up all kinds of little things for the kids, and though we were the only ones there at first, more people kept showing up, so we got to hang out with quite a few other kids. I think both Sammy and Flora really liked it!! I am excited to have that every week. It was fun for me, too, to get to meet some new adults.

Nap 2: 12:35-1:40
Snack 2: 2:30, crackers and raisins
BM: can’t remember…it was in the late morning time

Nap 2: 12:40-1:55
Snack 2: 2:30, cheese
BM: 12:15pm
Special notes: I need to start taking notes during the day on a notepad (sometimes I do) because I always forget things. Samuel said “squirrel” twice today when he saw a squirrel! It was more like “quer,” but he was looking right at a squirrel and I could tell that’s what he meant. :)

A few things we did today: We were expecting to be inside most of the day today because of rain, but we were pleasantly surprised and spent most of the morning outside. We went for a walk, visited the store, went to the Tri playground, came home and played around outside for a few minutes. In between we played inside, read, etc. We got out the BIG tunnel for the first time (thanks, Mimi!) and the kids both seemed to really enjoy it. This afternoon, we played inside and also spent a little time outside walking around and playing with the plastic wheel barrow.

"I took my jacket off and now I'm smiling because I am taking my shoes off, too!" :)

Sammy loves wheels. This is a classic picture...makes me think he'll be just like his dad, working on all kinds of little projects.

Snack 2: 2:30, cereal, crackers, and dried fruit
BM: 7:45am, 11:45am
Special notes: Flora was getting all snuggly against me on the carpet as she tried to crawl on me. I turned and we were face to face as I said, “Hi.” She then gave me a big old kiss on the lips! It was so adorable!

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-9-11
Arrived: 7:30am
Breakfast: 7:45am, all of oatmeal bar, 1 banana (didn’t want blueberries)
Snack 1: 9:15, crackers (didn’t really want peas) and some of Milo’s snacks
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:30
Nap 2: 12:40-1:55
Snack 2: 2:30, grapes and cheese
BM: 11:45am
Special notes: Sam used “please” again today in the appropriate context. I was impressed today, too, at breakfast. We were listening to music in the background, and when “If You’re Happy and You Know It” came on, he clapped in the appropriate places!

Samuel is also starting to recognize things when we do the alphabet. When the letter “h” came up, before I switched to the picture, he touched his hair. Fun stuff!

A few things we did today: this morning we packed up and went to Milo’s, this afternoon we practiced the alphabet (Sam and I), went for a walk, and played for a little bit outside.

Nap 1: ----
Lunch: most grapes, most broccoli and carrots, some hummus
Nap 2: 12:00-1:00
Snack 2: with Grandma!
BM: 11:45am
Special notes: Flora was determined to feed Samuel his water today. It was really cute. She kept sticking the straw in his face, and Sammy would drink.

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-8-11
Arrived: 7:25am
Breakfast: already ate
Snack 1: 9:20, raisins
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11:20am, most blueberries, some of pasta, very little cauliflower, all yogurt
Nap 2: 2:30-3:30
Snack 2: 2:30pm, raisins, later some bread
BM: early afternoon
Special notes: Sammy would just not go to sleep this afternoon, so we saw Flora off and then went to the store, and he finally fell asleep when we got back. Not sure what was different about today…?

A few things we did today: we mostly played in the middle level of the house as I decided for a few reasons not to go to the Tri this morning and instead wait until next week. We did get to go for a walk mid-morning. I love when the kids grab books and come sit on my lap! They seem to do that more and more.

General notes: Both kids were watching me eat my salad and wanted to try some. Flora actually ate a piece of spinach as well as a few pieces of celery (she kept asking for more!). I was surprised. Sammy just looked at the spinach and decided otherwise, and he did try the celery but spit it out.

Name: Flora
Date: 11-7-11
Arrived: 7:05am
Breakfast: 7:10am, a little PB and bagel, but not much
Snack 1: 9am, cereal and dried fruit
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11am, all broccoli, carrots, grapes, and cheese, a little of Sammy’s pasta, a couple bites of PB and bagel, a little bread, a few blue berries
Nap 2: 12:00-1:00pm
Snack 2: 2:15, cereal and dried fruit
BM: 1:40pm
Special notes: Adriane, just a note. Be careful with the bubble containers. I noticed that the little bubble wand comes apart, and so either one of those pieces could be a choking hazard. Just a heads up if you didn’t notice that already.

Also to note, Flora was still hungry after eating all of her lunch today, so you may want to consider packing a little bit more for lunch time. I am also ok with sharing Sammy’s food. :) I think he had a couple bites of Flora’s PB and bagel today, so it all evens out. I could always give her some of her cereal snack, too.

Name: Samuel
Date: 11-7-11
Arrived: 7:25am
Breakfast: ate beforehand
Snack 1: 9am, a little bread
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 11am, a little pasta, most blueberries, about 1/2 banana, a little bread, some cauliflower with PB
Nap 2: 12:25-1:25
Snack 2: 3:00pm, cheese
BM: 8am
Special notes: Andrea, you would have been so proud! Not only did Sammy use the “eat” sign when we were getting a snack, he suddenly did the “please” sign!!! It was so great. :) Also, I got out my old cell phone today. Samuel carried it around for a good chunk of the morning. Remind me to bring down the charger so you can charge it up. He likes it better when it is lighting up.

A few things we did today: blew bubbles, did a few “exercise” songs, read a lot, played outside, went for a walk, played in the “tunnel”

General notes: Mondays are street-sweeper day…it’s always fun to watch the kids. We can hear it when it is way down the street, so they make their way to the window and watch intently as it rumbles by.

No Pics Again...Forgot Camera at Flora's house!

Name: Flora
Date: 11-4-11
Arrived: 7:00am
Breakfast: 7:20am, oatmeal with 1/2 banana, raisins, and a little whole milk
Snack 1: 9:15, cereal and dried fruit
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12pm, a little pasta and mushroom sauce, edamame, quite a bit of apple sauce, a little PB and bagel (she didn’t seem to eat as much as usual and was pretty picky)
Nap 2: 1pm-1:40pm
Snack 2: 2:50pm, bagel and PB
BM: 7:45am
Special notes: Today was the Battle of the Bib! Ha Flora would not put it on for me for lunch. However, little does Flora know that I can out-stubborn just about anyone, so while she cried for a couple minutes sitting in her chair, I washed dishes. It took about 3 tries, but she finally stopped crying and stuck out her arms to put them through the bib. :)

Cool note: I have often seen Flora shake her head no, but I think she is finally starting to nod yes! Maybe she has been doing this at home, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen her do it, and it is SO helpful! And exciting! :)

We also had an extra long walk today…we were backpacking, and when we got back, I noticed Flora was missing a shoe. Oops! I remembered checking a couple times to make sure she still had both, so I knew it couldn’t be super far, but I had no idea where it fell off. We loaded back up and headed back out. Luckily, it was only about 5 minutes of hiking until we found the missing shoe. :)

November 3, 2011

Name: Flora
Date: 11-3-11
Arrived: 7am
Breakfast: 7:15am, didn’t seem interested in bagel and PB, but she was excited about oatmeal. At almost all of what was in the fridge
Snack 1: 9:15, bagel and PB
Nap 1: ----
Lunch: 12:10pm, cheese, 1/2 banana, some organic frozen mixed veggies, some grapes…didn’t want pear or yogurt (yogurt container is open in the fridge…be careful!)
Nap 2: 1:10pm-2:20pm
Snack 2:
BM: 11:45am
Special notes: Flora took a little while to fall asleep, but not horribly long (20 min). She was great today! I think it was fun for her to be in her environment and show off a little bit. She climbed onto the couch many times, bounced around on her zebra, pulled out many toys (i.e. the shopping cart). She is so cute and getting smarter every day.

The bath seemed to go well, though her hair may still be slightly greasy…? Didn’t notice anything unusual. I let her play in there for quite a while.

Name: Samuel…sick day. :(

11-3-11 post for 11-2-11

An update:

Sorry about no post yesterday! Things were a bit crazy in the house. If you don't know the story, I'll let the parents tell it if they want to. Otherwise, we'll just say it was quite an adventure for all of us... :)

Anyway, I will have a post today, but no pics because I don't have my camera with me. Hopefully tomorrow I can snap a couple fun ones.

October 31, 2011 PICS

The kids have been super-interested in books lately. I love it!

While Sammy was chilling on the floor, Flora decided to come over and sit on him! I think she was trying to be playful. It was really funny. :)
